Zodiac

Mystery, Cyphers, Fear, and Intrigue, these are all words that describe the thrilling plot of the new film about the Zodiac killer. But, the film is only going to be half my story, why? Because I was able to go to the premiere! Thats right, the movie simultaneously premiered in New York, San Francisco, and Redlands CA. Why? you may ask. Because one of the only survivors of the Zodiac is currently living in Redlands. His name isin Brian Hartnell and he organized the screening of the film, which he consulted on and cameos as an
extra in. The screening was a benefit for the Redlands bowl spring music festival. Hartnell, as well as the producer, and actor Donal Logue. This was a glorious evening with the attendees gathered the unusually austere Krikorian Theaters in Redlands. We heard from all the movie makers in attendance, and then the movie started. This film was better than I expected. I was afraid that it would be over dramatized as Hollywood often produces movies, but no. It was very much about the investigation, the evidence and the suspects. It was more reminiscent of an episode of CSI than SAW III. The characters were round and well
developed. Although, I must agree with many of the critics, the film was perhaps longer than it needed to be. The producer said that during the research for the film the script bulged from 150 pages to over 200. Perhaps they should have stuck with 150. Other than that it was a delightful film and very cool to see a couple cameos of people I know in it. MY RATING: 8.5/10Wednesday, February 21, 2007
Eric

Every so often in life you meet those people, perhaps you know of whom I am referring. The kind of people that touch you in a way that makes them an inevitable, and prominent stitch in the fabric of your life. Sometimes this impact is an emotional one, and at times a physical one, but always a significant one. Eric is one of those people.
This 6'1" brown haired, blue eyed kid is not only as smart as they come, but he's useful too. For example, if you need someone to critique your English paper, or better yet lay out your page on your school newspaper he's the man. He'll whip out a phat tyte layout whippin out all the mad Google images results for "Porn star for Governer" or "Christmas light's on a House" (pic's I had him look up for my articles). Eric is more than that though, you see when you need so good old fashioned straight guy man love, he just cant be beat. It's crazy how long Eric is willing
to listen to me ramble on about some new computer gear or video camera, seriously it can take hours. He is a good ear and a loyal friend. One of the best you can ask for in a life like this. He's got a bold and creative taste in Music, Movies, and the Arts. I would just like to be one of the many voices saying that this young man has talent, and charm. Truly a good friend as well. Enough gloating, one comment. I liked his hair better when it was shorter and done all nice. Could be just me, but I think it looked better that way. I'm not saying it's bad right now or anything, I just don't like it quite as. much. So there it's not all positive. Oh, and I'm not gay, pretty sure Eric's girlfriend doesn't think he's gay, so thats that

You know what, I think I may have found a new focus for the blog during the times I don't have any interesting personal info. I can write about the people I know and why they are important to me for their various reasons. Hmmm. This could be the content I'm missing. I'll keep you posted on new developments.

Big Bear

There are so many things that are absurd on this cover that I cannot quite comprehend all of it. He has four bears smoking blunts and wearing jewelry while drinking cristal in front of a table filled with cigars, strawberries, assorted nuts, and fresh fish. Oh, and his name is in HONEY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Just in case you thought he was going light on the bear theme. The name of the album is baffling. "Doin Thangs" is such a broad description. What is he doing? THANGS. No time for apostrophes, Big Bear is on the move. I'm just relieved that he didn't forget to put a high number of lens flares onto the cover. Without it he might have lost the hook necessary to alert people that he is, in fact, doin thangs.

Apple iPhone

This morning, at the Macworld Expo in San Fransisco, Apple CEO Steve Jobs released it's first wireless phone offering a cornucopia of new features, previously unseen in other phones. Most of the new features are designed to work in a seamless way with it's ample 3.5" wide screen display. The device, has only one physical button at the bottom of the device for returns to the home screen. One initial criticism is that, without additional tactile buttons, blind dialing or dialing without looking at the device will be difficult at best. It is slated for a release in the middle of 2007 after receiving FCC approval, although an earlier release is not out of the question if Apple Inc. (Also changed today from Apple Computers Inc.) is able to get fast FCC
approval. This device runs on an operating system that Apple describes as a "slimmed down OS X." Pricing is also quite high at $499 for a 4GB model and $599 for an 8 GB model. Of note, are additional new innovations such as a dual simultaneous input touch screen, and a screen at a record setting 160 Pixels per inch. The device connects to a users PC or Mac via a standard 30 pin iPod dock connector, and it is capable of syncing Music, Photo's, Videos, Contacts, and Calender information from a users computer. The only other port is a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. This device seems like it will offer an unmatched level of user experience. Once test and shipping unit's are available the consumer market will be better able to evaluate the durability and usability for themselves.
